Full-time benefits-eligible employment begins at a minimum of 30 hours per week

  • HEALTH INSURANCE. For Minnesota employees: PHS partners with Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN (BCBS) and offers two medical plan network options. Employees in Iowa and Wisconsin have access to a broad open-access network.
  • DENTAL INSURANCE. Dental coverage is available to employees in MN and WI.
  • VISION INSURANCE. Optional/elective vision coverage available.
  • HSA & FSA. Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) available with qualifying health plans.
  • LIFE INSURANCE (AD&D), PLUS VOLUNTARY SHORT-TERM & LONG-TERM DISABILITY COVERAGES. Symetra policies for life and disability coverage are offered. Voluntary short-term disability coverage offers enhanced benefit provision

PHS Education Assistance

Education Assistance Scholarship

Apply for up to $5,250 each year to pursue professional certification, vocational training and undergraduate or graduate degrees in the field of aging services through an accredited educational institution or agency. Scholarship awards are paid directly to the school or program by PHS. Scholarship funds are not applicable to expenses incurred in past semesters or programs. Eligible expenses include tuition, books, required fees, supplies, equipment and reasonable costs for child care and transportation. A computer/laptop is not considered an eligible expense.

Eligibility requirements

  • PHS education assistance scholarships are available to you if you have been employed and in good standing for at least three months and work a part- or full-time core of at least 22.5 hours per pay period.
  • You must be endorsed by your manager, HR representative and campus administrator.
  • Applications must be received prior to the beginning of the semester or program for which you are seeking the scholarship.
  • Scholarship recipients are asked to make a two-year commitment to PHS upon receiving the degree and work a full-time core schedule of at least 30 hours per week.

Nursing loan forgiveness

PHS offers employees nursing loan forgiveness for newly-hired or newly-promoted RNs and LPNs. Reimbursement will be paid quarterly to your paycheck or direct deposit for the minimum loan payments (not the loan balance).

Eligibility requirements

  • Have been hired or promoted as an RN or LPN within the previous 12 calendar months.
  • Work a full-time core schedule of 30 hours/week and performance remains in good standing.
  • Are endorsed by your manager, HR representative and the campus administrator.
  • Are making minimum payments and staying current on existing loan.

Training for nursing assistants (no cost)

Take the first step toward becoming a nursing assistant through the PHS OnTrack 2-Week Training Program. Designed to work with your busy lifestyle, this flexible program provides graduates with the skills needed to pass the state exam.

The curriculum is flexible, interactive and fun! You must work a regular core schedule within a care center setting. This training program is available to employees serving at any Minnesota PHS location (not currently available in Iowa or Wisconsin).

OnTrack requirements

  • 35 hours of self-paced education via online training.
  • 24 hours of hands-on training in a skills lab, located in Roseville, Minn.
  • 16 hours of clinical experience at a PHS location.
