Christian Ministry Christian Ministry is the first of our values for a reason. It is at the heart of all we do and forms the cornerstone of our identity as an organization. Through our value of Christian Ministry we strive to reflect the love of God and define our service to you and others as an expression of God’s grace. In 1955, the founders of Presbyterian Homes & Services established the biblical foundation upon which our ministry and mission is based. Today, we hold firm to our foundational verses to guide us and provide the theological framework for our ministry. A Selection of PHS Foundational Verses Jesus demonstrated for us a holy and God-inspired calling to meet the needs of older adults. John 19:25-27 “Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Dear woman, here is your son,’ and to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’ From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.” We revere and honor God through our vocation and service. Leviticus 19:32 “Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord.” We demonstrate God’s love in everything we do. John 13: 34-35 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” We have a responsibility to offer the gifts we have to serve others. I Peter 4:10 “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”
