“The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.” ~ Luke 2:20
The joy of Christmas is wonderful to witness. Our communities are draped with light and we are invited to embrace each individual with the warmth and love of Christ. The beauty of this holy day gives us a lot to hear and see, inspiring us to glorify and praise God.
On that first Christmas the shepherds heard the angel’s message about the birth of Jesus and followed the call to Bethlehem. Quickly they went and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger. When they saw this, they told everyone about the child; and all who heard it were amazed. And then it was back to work for the shepherds, but they would never be the same again.
After Christmas, we also will return to the routines of daily life. Will the wonder of Christmas amaze and inspire us to greet Jesus every day? Will we see him in the face of a loved one, a neighbor, a caregiver, a friend? Who will we tell about him? Who will find Jesus in us by the way we live our lives?
It is the humility and love of Jesus that inspires us at Presbyterian Homes & Services to answer the call of service. As our 62nd year of ministry comes to a close, we give thanks for the many blessings we have shared with over 24,600 older adults, 6,400 employees and nearly 4,000 volunteers.
We are privileged to answer our call to honor God by enriching the lives and touching the hearts of older adults. May God bless you on this Christmas Day and in the New Year.
