APPLE VALLEY, MN—A steady stream of residents are being welcomed and settling into their new apartment homes at Orchard Path senior living community, which opened the doors in January 2018. Located on the western shore of Cobblestone Lake, Orchard Path is the newest Presbyterian Homes & Services senior living community in the Twin Cities area.
Linda Engelken, Orchard Path Housing Advisor observed, “The atmosphere here is active and enthusiastic. The community is coming alive with residents moving in and getting to know each other. They are already gathering to socialize, meet for lunch or watch a movie in our theater.” Linda added that residents have moved in to or reserved 95 of the 115 senior living apartments. Reservations are being accepted for assisted living and memory care apartments as well as the remaining one and two bedroom senior apartments.
Among the new residents are Lou and Karen Clark who spent over a year looking for a senior living community that fit their lifestyle and future plans. “We chose Orchard Path because it looks the best AND it allows us to keep our friendships and volunteerism at church and the [Minnesota] zoo,” Lou said.
The name, Orchard Path, draws on the early history of the area known for its apple trees and orchard farms. The grounds feature a patio, gardens and outdoor walking trails connected to nearby Cobblestone Park. “I love the view from my apartment and my deck,” said new resident Sandy Johnson. “I enjoy the beautiful courtyard and walking around the lake,” she said. Orchard Path brings vital senior housing and services to the Cobblestone Lake neighborhood to meet the desires and needs of people like Sandy who are part of a rapidly growing older adult population in the South Metro Area.
Orchard Path provides a high-quality living experience with a wide variety of amenities and services. Edward Seigworth, a new resident, has appreciated the attention he’s received from the well-trained staff. “We’ve been more than pleased. Everybody we’ve met so far has been helpful and pleasant–the kind of people who work well with older adults,” he said.
The attached Town Center, with its grand two-story foyer is the community focal point. Offering a full range of amenities, the Town Center houses a salon, bistro, chapel, game lounge, library, movie theater, performing arts center and banquet room. Underground heated parking is also available to residents.
When complete in summer 2018, the campus will also offer 58 assisted living apartments and 20 memory care apartments. Future plans are considering additional senior living apartments and a skilled nursing care center.
The $56M project was developed by Essential Decisions, Inc. (EDI) with consulting and marketing support from Senior Housing Partners (SHP). The community was designed by Pope Architects, St. Paul, MN with interior design provided by Senior Lifestyle Design, the interior design arm of PHS. The general contractor is Anderson Companies of St. Louis Park, MN and financing is secured through Hamlin Capital Investments, Tampa, FL.
