It was a full house at Orchard Path as residents and guests attended Orchard Fest celebrating the Grand Opening of Presbyterian Homes & Services’ newest metro-area senior living community. Guests at Orchard Fest enjoyed harvest treats, live polka band music, outdoor games for all ages and community tours of all living options.
Karen Pohl, an Orchard Path resident, attended the celebration and enjoyed the tasty treats and friendly camaraderie of her new neighbors. Karen was among the first residents to move into an assisted living apartment in June 2018. “I liked it right away. The scenery is gorgeous,” she said. Karen’s one bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor overlooks Cobblestone Lake. “Every morning I wake up and see the lake. It’s just so beautiful,” she said. Karen likes the social environment as well. “Everyone is so friendly and I like being with people,” she said. Karen enjoys Wii® bowling and an occasional game of cards. “Being here is so much fun, I just feel at home,” she said.
When construction began in September 2017, Karen’s brother, Jim Boettcher, watched Orchard Path take shape from his home just a few blocks away. He attended a pre-reservation open house and met with Dianna Weum, Orchard Path Housing Advisor. “We talked for over 2 hours,” he said. Jim recommended Orchard Path to his sister, and one week later he made an advance reservation for her. “It’s a beautiful place, well managed and served by fine people,” he said.
Located on a 13-acre site on the western shore of Cobblestone Lake, Orchard Path is named to reflect the early history of the area, known for its apple trees and orchard farms. Residents have been moving in since January 2018. The community offers 115 senior apartments, 58 assisted living apartments and 20 memory care apartments. The attached Town Center, with its grand two-story foyer is the community focal point. Offering a full range of amenities, the Town Center houses a salon, bistro, chapel, club lounge, library, movie theater, performing arts center and community room. Underground heated parking is also available to residents.

The $56M project was developed by Essential Decisions, Inc. (EDI) with consulting and marketing support from Senior Housing Partners (SHP). The community was designed by Pope Architects, St. Paul, MN with interior design provided by Senior Lifestyle Design, the interior design arm of PHS. The general contractor is Anderson Companies of St. Louis Park, MN and financing is secured through Hamlin Capital Investments, Tampa, FL.
