There are many reasons to move into a senior living community: maintenance-free living, restaurant style dining, care options available, safety, and the list goes on. For Fairway Knoll’s first resident, it was all about “getting social.”
Wayne was the first resident to move into Fairway Knoll (and even spent the first night in the huge building all by himself). We asked Wayne how he made this important decision, and why.
Wayne responded, “I was all by myself and I thought it was my time, I needed to socialize.” And socialize he has! You can see Wayne in just about every photo shared on the Fairway Knoll Facebook page. Other residents refer to him as “the Mayor” of Fairway Knoll, and for good reason. Wayne embraces “aging with positivity” and finds fulfillment each day in the relationships he builds with his friendliness, outgoing personality, and uplifting spirit.
You can watch his full testimonial video below.
As if the joy of making friends wasn’t enough, studies reported by the University of California-Berkeley, the National Institutes of Health and the American Society on Aging indicate that seniors who maintain social connections:
- Have significantly higher physical mobility
- Are more likely to have regular health screenings
- Have lower rates of cognitive decline
- Are less likely to suffer from isolation and depression
