World War II veterans who live at Waverly Gardens were honored on Friday, October 4, in a ceremony held in the community’s auditorium. After the Forest Lake VFW honor guard opened the ceremony, each veteran signed his or her name on the wings of a model plane built by Chuck Shuneman, a friend of Waverly Gardens. Chuck is building the remote control plane to replicate the B-25 bomber, a.k.a. “Miss Mitchell.”
Fox 9 News anchor Tim Blotz was there to cover the story:
Thank you to Chuck for honoring our veterans in such a special way and thank you to the Waverly Gardens veterans for your service to our nation.
