Make Your Mark: Brad Cheney Upholds Operational Integrity

In doing so, they “make their mark” upon those we serve. In our continuing series, “Make your Mark,” we introduce you to PHS employees who are living out these values.

Meet Brad Cheney, Environmental Services Director at Norris Square in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Brad lives out the PHS value of “Operational Integrity” by doing his utmost to keep the buildings at Norris Square functioning at their best every day.

Brad began his service to PHS in 2017 at Central Towers in St. Paul before moving to Norris Square last fall. He said that the laughter and smiles shared between residents and staff makes it easy to come to work each day. It is clear that Brad cares about his team and their professional growth. He serves as a mentor to help each individual gain skills and advance their careers. “I take pride in the Environmental Services Team and the work we do to make things better for the residents and the PHS community,” he said.

“The residents are noticing his team’s great work!” said Blake Boche, Campus Administrator. “Brad has made a positive impact on Norris Square since joining our community last fall. He demonstrates operational integrity by promptly and continuously assessing the needs of our existing and new construction buildings and helping to devise a plan to keep everything up to PHS standards,” he said.

Blake appreciates how Brad works to ensure that the residents feel at home beginning on the day they cross the threshold. “Brad partners with our housing team to allocate his staff to get apartments ready and in great shape for new residents. He is quick to put plans into action to assure that the residents’ environment is clean, safe, and comfortable, all with a huge smile and a warm hug.” 

Brad’s dependable and responsive attention shows how he lives out the PHS pledge of operational integrity to “do what we said we would do.” By recognizing that he comes to work in the residents’ home, he takes extra measures to make sure they feel not only comfortable, but welcome.
