The mission of Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS), “to honor God by enriching the lives and touching the hearts of older adults,” is fulfilled when the actions of our employees demonstrate our stated values. In doing so, they “make their mark” upon those we serve. In our continuing series, “Make Your Mark,” we introduce you to PHS employees who are living out these values.
This week we celebrate Pastor Mark Triller, who has been recognized for his remarkable service excellence, a PHS core value. Since 2018, Pastor Mark has supported two PHS communities in Wisconsin: Dickson Hollow, located in Menomonee Falls, and Fairway Knoll in Germantown. Dickson Hollow Campus Administrator Jenny Weise says of Mark, “He has a gentle way of bringing everyone closer to the Lord by being highly relational with his quiet sense of humor.”
PHS Campus Pastors help create strong, closely knit communities
At PHS we strive to reflect the love of God and define our service as an expression of God’s grace. From John 13:34–35, Jesus said, “I give to you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (NRSV)
As a Campus Pastor, Mark helps create strong, closely knit communities at Dickson Hollow and Fairway Knoll. Jenny continues, “Mark started a new series at Dickson Hollow called ‘Know Your Neighbor.’ He interviews residents and staff and asks them questions about their childhood, family life and finding their faith. The series has been a huge success because it gives both residents and staff the opportunity to know each other and it sparks meaningful conversation. With each conversation, the relationships continue to build. That is how Mark makes Dickson Hollow special.” What could be more important at a time like this?
Pastor Chris Wheatley
At PHS we serve others, whatever it takes
, Senior Director of Pastoral Care Services at PHS, says of Mark: “Increasingly, those who live in our communities want to belong to a faith community that involves their neighbors and integrates their daily lives. Especially in these times of limited social activity, it takes a special person to marry the pastoral needs of the individual with the worship and communal needs of a group. We are blessed to have Pastor Mark, who embodies these two wonderfully, and remains focused on God’s love and welcome.”
As recently as last week, Pastor Mark started broadcasting the “Know Your Neighbor” series on residents’ TVs using Dickson Hollow’s in-house TV channel. Residents watch and interact by picking up their phones and calling in with their questions, live!
Pastor Mark Triller and his team serve with excellence simply by doing whatever it takes to help residents stay connected and grow in their common love of God. A special thanks to Mark and all PHS employees who raise the bar of service excellence in these unprecedented times.
