On June 15, 1955, Margaret Paden, the widow of a Presbyterian minister, became the first PHS resident of the first “Presbyterian Home” on Lake Johanna, making today the official 65th Anniversary of PHS!
Obviously much has changed from that first community of 30 residents to our ministry of 49 communities and a host of other services today. All told, we number over 7,000 employees and this year we will serve nearly 30,000 older adults!
In recognition of our 65th Anniversary, PHS CEO Dan Lindh shares a video reflection on his 44 years at PHS and lessons from the past for this particular moment of challenge for PHS.
"As I reflect, a verse from 2 Timothy 1:7 comes to mind – ‘God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and self-discipline.’ Those are the qualities that we need right now. To stay focused, because God has empowered us to do great things. He will sustain us, and He asks us to keep providing and serving in love.”
