Kind Regards: “Just a phone call away”

In today’s Kind Regards, we recognize and share words of gratitude about the dedicated service offered by two Optage teams during this National Home Care and Hospice Week. Optage is the home and community services division of Presbyterian Homes and Services.
Optage Home Care clients and their families tell us this:
“Since I first became acquainted with Optage, I have enjoyed welcoming the nurses and physical therapists to my apartment. I look forward to their visits each week. Many of them have grown to be friends who are very special.”
“I am extremely impressed with all of the services we received from Optage. We needed to reschedule several appointments (due to my mom’s health). The staff were considerate and understanding. All staff are wonderful.”
We also share words of gratitude received by the Optage Hospice team. Sarah Olsen, Director of Social Work and Chaplain Services, explained, “This email comes from Alyssa Knight, one of our social workers. She relayed the following to highlight the impact we had on a client’s daughter. The client was on hospice for quite some time in 2018, graduated, and then came back to us this summer for about 24 hours due to COVID. We had a whole team positively influence the daughter’s experience.”
Alyssa wrote, “Kathy gave me a call today and wanted to make sure that I pass on a very big thank you from Sylvia's family to each of us who played a role in her care. Sylvia was only with us about 2 days this last time on hospice, but the role our team had in her end-of-life journey will have a lasting impression on family. Kathy shared, ‘Death isn't something you desire, but my mom went out as beautifully and elegantly as possible.’"
Alyssa went on to name those who Kathy called out for their exceptional care: Visit Nurse Jessie Rudy, Nurse Case Manager Sandy Berger, and Chaplain Jen Johnson. She noted that this family’s journey with Optage Hospice hasn’t ended: “Kathy says she is so thankful to know that Chaplain Jen is just a phone call away in the next year to come.”
