Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) welcomes three new Twin Cities area senior living communities into our family. The sale of The Pillars of Shorewood Landing, Highland Park and White Bear Lake closed successfully on December 16, 2021, transferring ownership from Oppidan to PHS.

All three locations will continue to offer senior independent, assisted living and memory care apartments with a full array of services and amenities.

“PHS continuously searches for opportunities to fulfill and expand our mission. We have worked closely with Oppidan and found many positive synergies in our ownership, development, and operational styles. We were very excited about the opportunity to acquire these three communities, all in strong locations, from such a respected developer and look forward to welcoming the staff and residents into the PHS family.” – Jon Fletcher, VP for Project Development

Oppidan is an Excelsior-based national property development firm whose values of Community, Accountability, Passion, Teamwork, Urgency, Respect and Excellence are core to how they have served their external and internal communities for the past 30 years. “The Pillars” remains a brand of Oppidan, which owns several other senior communities that carry this name. Appropriately, PHS will set aside this name and is inviting current residents of the three communities to join the naming process for each location!

Ebenezer Management Services currently manages these three Pillars communities. As part of this ownership change, Ebenezer will continue to manage these communities into 2022. It is the goal of all parties to ensure that resident care and services are not interrupted through this transition. As faith-based, non-profit organizations in senior housing and care, Ebenezer and PHS are both grounded in the Christian faith, and each has a strong mission and legacy to serve older adults.

Representatives of PHS will be meeting this month with residents and staff of the three Pillars communities to introduce our organization, provide details about the transition and respond to questions. Both PHS and Ebenezer are working closely together with residents and staff to make the transition as seamless as possible and to continue providing the highest quality care and services.
