'YOU are the greatest blessing'

Kind Regards seriesThe following letter comes from the children of John and Jeanette, who lived at Lake Minnetonka Shores in Spring Park, MN. Reading their firsthand experience renews our passion and purpose. It’s our hope that it touches your hearts too. They write:

Dear Lake Minnetonka Shores staff,
We wanted to thank you for the wonderful care you provided our parents over the 14 years they lived at Lake Minnetonka Shores.
When they first moved into their Courtyard apartment, we were all so happy for them to find a comfortable home with a “neighborhood” of friends and activities, and where they could still come and go as was their style of living at the time. It truly was a blessing.
When Dad had to move to the care center, Mom could simply walk to his room to spend the day with him, regardless of the weather, and then walk back to her apartment at night. That provided him the steady companionship he needed and served to begin to prepare her for her life without him. It, too, truly was a blessing.
Then when Mom needed to move to assisted living, we were all so happy to know she could remain active with her friends, and get all her walking in. Yet another blessing.
And finally, when the time came for Mom to move to memory care, you were able to find a home for her in the Arbor, which she absolutely loved. As her children, the day we learned we wouldn’t have to relocate her, we felt we’d (and she’d) won the lottery. And so, even more blessings.
But when we look back at Mom and Dad’s entire 14 years at Lake Minnetonka Shores, we realize the greatest blessings were the administrative staff who made possible our parents living there, and of course the caregiving staff, who could not have been more loving of our parents. YOU are the greatest blessing, and there are no words to describe, but only tears to show, how thankful and blessed our family has been by you.
Thank you, and God bless you!
Guy and Cheri, Gayle, Grant and Julie, and all the rest of Carl and Jeanette’s family
