Looking back on a year of inspiring stories

When we posed the question “Why do you choose to serve older adults?” to our Pres Homes family of employees, we were amazed by their responses. Throughout the year, we’ve shared one inspiring story each week. As we look back on this past year, we see the following themes emerge:

  1. Meaningful Work
  2. Living out my family’s legacy
  3. Serving with compassion
  4. Demonstrating Christ’s love
  5. Using my gifts for the benefit of others
Every story that was shared was unique, but each stood on the foundation of having meaningful work at Pres Homes. Grandparents and other family members were often at the center of the decision to answer the call of serving older adults, but in very different ways. Some stories told of happy memories with their grandparents while others shared difficult experiences they had witnessed their loved ones endure and a firm desire to make a difference for others.
The word ‘compassion’ was interwoven into each story as many expressed a desire to demonstrate Christ’s love to others; residents, family members, or even complete strangers. Ultimately, each week we’ve read about a variety of gifts and how each unique person chooses to put them into action through their work.

In Ephesians 4 we read: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have been given, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”

Today we conclude this series as we share a brief video highlighting some of the “My Why” story themes. We look forward to unveiling our next uplifting series “Make Your Mark” in the coming weeks! Stay tuned for more inspiration!
