Respond to COVID-19 Crisis

As communities start to allow more visitors, we have begun reintroducing volunteers. This looks different at each community. If you have a connection with a community already, please reach out to the Volunteer Director. If you do not have a connection to a particular community, please contact for more information.

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, you can bless an older adults with a valentine. We are accepting Valentine's Day cards and hand-crafted gifts to create smiles this Valentine's Day. There is no limit to how many you can send!

Create Seasonal Craft Kits
The assembly of Craft Kits is very helpful to staff as they dedicate their time to enriching the lives of older adults in new and creative ways. Volunteers choose a craft they would like to complete and make kits for one, or several, older adults to complete as well.

Volunteer Testimonials

Sarah, volunteer

“Volunteering with residents in nursing homes provides meaning and purpose in my life.  I feel like I'm making a difference in the lives of others. Many of the most meaningful interactions I’ve had in recent years are with the seniors I serve while volunteering!”
– Sarah, Arbor Memory Care Volunteer

“When I'm volunteering it's hard to tell who is having more fun, the people there to help out or the people receiving the help. It is so much fun for everyone when we go to Highland Ridge that everyone, as soon as we leave, starts planning the next time we can go and what we can do.”
– Josephine, Highland Ridge Volunteer

Paul, Volunteer

"Volunteering with hospice is an opportunity to give back after all the care and support my mother received as a resident.. It is also a gift to me, many have led rich lives and simply enjoy a listening ear."

– Paul, Optage Hospice Volunteer

“Even the simple things like a smile and a look of recognition that I am a familiar face. That always touches my heart and makes me feel good.”
– Ann, Optage Companion Volunteer
Bailey the therapy dog

“Woof! Woof! Woof!” ("I love making the residents smile!")
– Bailey, Therapy Pet Volunteer
